Relay For Life
Once upon a time in a far-away land called Albert Park Lake, there was a mysterious event held called Relay for Life. This event was created to collect gold for an incredible organisation called the Cancer Council. The Cancer Council has fulfilled many wonders in its time as a charity, including assisting scientists in their aim for a cancer free nation! Over the 30th of April and 1st of May, more than 30 knights in shining armour from the castle of Monash University Peninsula Campus took on the quest to march the kingdoms flag for 24 hours straight without a break. This proved to be quite the challenge for some of the more inexperienced knights, nevertheless they completed the challenge and raised around $3500 in gold pieces. Ten of the youngest knights were in just their first year at the kingdom when they took part in the quest. As brave, young first years they swallowed their fears as they gained the courage to conquer the second and third year knights in the 24 hour relay. Through their sheer innocence they were able to befriend their elders and gain mentors for the challenging experience that lay ahead of them. They turned out not to be so scary after all... Once the quest had been conquered, the first year knights left the event with a new sense of accomplishment, kinsman ship, and strength. And each and every knight vowed to face the same challenge again the following year, but with at least double the numbers as the previous! And so it is my duty, as the teller of the tales to call upon you mere members of the council to help to support this fruitful cause in years to come, and participate in the challenge of the 24 hour relay, and exceed $3500 in fundraising! The quest is now in your hands! Do not let the kingdom down!
