Peninsula ClubsFaculty, Course and Career ClubsParamedics Society (PARASOC)Parasoc is a society that has two major aspects, a social side and a professional development side. Membership with Parasoc also includes membership with the Australia College of Ambulance Professionals (ACAP) which gives members an annual subscription to the RESPONSE magazine and free access to a number of ambulance professional development sessions. Our major social event is the annual Paramedic ball. There are also heaps of other great events such as pub nights and trivia nights. Last year we were named the best paramedic society in Australia and we invite you to join us in 2010!
President: Matt Twining Physiotherapy SocietyMonash Physiotherapy Society is available to everyone not just Physiotherapy students. We aim to provide members with great social and academic activities throughout the year. Membership to the Physio society enables us to put on more events and gives you great discounts to all club functions we have organized. We organise a large number of functions every year including our infamous Edgy nights, end of exam parties, the annual physio ball, our annual nursing and physio booze cruise, and heaps of pizza and bbq days at uni.
President: Joel Van Weel Society of Occupational Therapy (SOOT)SOOT is the Society of Occupational Therapy for Monash Peninsula. We aim to benefit our members academically, socially and financially. During the year we hold an academic event, which is free for all SOOT members and provides opportunities to broaden experiences and knowledge in an occupational therapy based setting. We also hold multiple social events, including a ball, where you save money if you buy a membership. Members in 2009 saved over $35 during the year. SOOT is always looking for new and enthusiastic members and hope to see you in our team next year. SOOT - mightier than a lump of coal!
President: Emma Davies Special Interest ClubsMonash University Midwifery Society (M.U.M.S)The Monash University Midwifery Society or M.U.M.S is a Peninsula based club that organises social and academic events for both midwifery and other students. It provides an opportunity for students to get to know each other, support each other through uni, and of course have some fun! The club also aims to improve maternity services in places where birthing conditions are less than ideal, by donating a portion of the profit made from events. The clubs is fairly new and enthusiastic to host many events in 2010. Everyone is welcome to join!
President: Rebecca Rooney Monash University Nursing Club (MUNCS)MUNC was established in 2009 for all Nursing and Nursing/Emergency Health students. So far, it has been a great success! Our first function was the joint "Back to School" Booze Cruise with the Physio Society, which received amazing feedback from all those who attended. In 2010, MUNC has many plans for nursing (and non-nursing!) students. This will include a party in first semester and either a Ball or another Booze Cruise in the second semester! We are currently also planning for either Monash Nursing Hoodies or Trackies, which will all be discounted for members! For all those students who are keen to contribute are welcome to join and make 2010 as amazing as 2009 was!
President: Hannah Urquhart Monash Education Society (MES)The starting of Peninsula's new MES will be in 2010, with various social events and functions planned for its new members and for anyone who wants to come along. We aim to provide first year students a comfortable and social environment in their transition form high school to university, and for all current students we hope to provide you with various events that allow you to enjoy the more social side to university. To kick off the year we will be holding a welcoming BBQ for all our new members to get to know each other followed by the 'MES Ball' as our possible end of semester function. With all things going as planned we hope to organize a Booze Cruise during semester 2 for our members and anyone interested in coming along for a social and fun night out.
President: Nicole Lowe Students Teaching English (STEW)STEW (Students Teaching English to the World) is a non-for-profit organization run by a Monash student committee. STEW endeavors to build the bridge between our refugee and migrant community through the power of English. Currently, our English tutoring scheme is our main focus, but we are also developing several other programs for swimming, excursion and several others in progress. STEW is affiliated with AMES (Adult Multicultural Education Services) and through AMES we provide official training for our volunteers to be able to teach migrant and refugee adults. STEW holds regular events such as trivia nights, information nights and movie nights.
President: Odette Rodda BSORThe purpose Bachelor of Sport and Outdoor Recreation committee is to unite students across all BSOR units by providing a service that offers social, academic and sporting opportunities. Our committee endeavors to create a community environment across the entire BSOR department. By providing these opportunities we hope to foster relationships between all year levels to enable interaction and communication for social and academic benefits. Activities include:
President: Indira Quin Spiritual ClubsAlive Campus FellowshipAlive is a Christian club and fellowship at the Peninsula campus of Monash Uni. It does not exclude non-Christians. We meet once a week for worship, prayer and encouragement in our studies. We also help volunteer with university events - such as pancake Wednesdays run by the Peninsula Chaplain. You are invited to JOIN! "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." (Hebrews 13:8)President: Pavel Jancik Campus Christian MovementCampus Christian Movement or as we call it, C.C.M for short, is a fun filled group of individuals who are serious about having buckets of fun about learning about Jesus, all He did and walking with God together. We build strong networks of friendship, support and connections that are essential in every university student. Our aims are to reach out to the campus and to bring around the love of Jesus Christ and the sharing of the Gospel to everyone and it is CCM's goal to cater to the physical, mental, emotional, academic needs as well as the spiritual needs of all students. We usually have monthly events such as Beach Day, Mornington Peninsula tours, Iceskating, Basketball and Ultimate Frisbee challenges AND weekly gatherings which include a awesome dinner, hanging out, praising & worshiping God and discussion group for Bible study AND MORE!!
